Poppy Fields Appeal

Scan Results Feb 2009

Hi All,

Just to let you know that after worrying news at Poppy's last scan 6 weeks ago & a meeting with her new neurosurgeon, Mr Solanki, we are relieved to say that Poppy's latest scan is 'stable'. PHEW!!!! Surgery is still a possibility, but not for the next few weeks at least. Hopefully the cyst will continue to behave itself now & the tumour will continue to break down too. We feel like we can breathe out again for a short while!!

We have some fundraising news to share too....

The Rotary Club of Aldridge very kindly chose Poppy Fields as one of their charities for this year. Last night we were treated to a lovely meal, and then presented with a cheque for £1000 (other donations on the night made it up to £1030). We were made to feel extremely welcome, and Poppy kept everyone entertained!!! So, thank you to the president, Roy, and all at Aldridge Rotary Club for your generosity & hospitality, we really do appreciate it. Attached is a photo of Roy, his wife & Poppy at the presentation.

Also, staff at Sainsbury's in Tamworth have kindly donated the refreshments for our 'Poppy Fields Special Mums & Dads Group' for the whole year!!! Yesterday, Poppy & I met Nicky & Tracey from Sainsbury's who also gave me some beautiful flowers & have offered to let Poppy choose a new outfit & accessories from their Spring Collection in-store!!! We had a lovely morning, despite making them both cry by showing our ball video!!! Thank you both & all at Sainsbury's for supporting us, it means a lot. Attached is a photo of Tracey & Nicky with Poppy (who insisted on showing them her pink bedroom!!).

Our next support group meeting is on Monday 2nd March at the Coton Centre, Comberford Road, Tamworth, from 11am until 1pm. Again, we are extremely grateful to all at The Coton Centre for their continued support. We would also like to pass on our love & congratulations to our fellow support group organiser, Sarah (Abi's mommy) who has just won 'Tesco Mum of the Year' - well done, Sarah!!!! Have a fantastic time in London!!

Our website is currently out of action due to some changes with the hosting. However, please do bear with us as things will be up & running again soon. (Thanks Lee for all your hard work!).

Please may we ask for your continued thoughts & prayers for Poppy & her friends - Abi, George, Jasmine, Haydn, Mia, Hope, Alex & all of the special kids from our Optic Glioma Online support group. Thank you.

Love to all,
Lisa, Brian & Poppy Guilder
