Poppy's Scan Results & Update - May 2010

Scan Results
We are thrilled to say that Poppy’s latest scan on May 10th showed that both the tumour & cyst are stable. Also, Poppy’s reflexes disappeared after she started Vincristine back in 2004. Poppy had 17 months in total of this chemotherapy drug, which is a huge amount; therefore we were not surprised that her reflexes never returned. However, when Dr. Peet was doing his neurological tests on Poppy last week, she gave us all quite a shock by having reflexes in her knees!!! We are not really sure what you need them for, but it felt like another positive step to us!!!

Growth Hormones
Poppy is now into her 4th week of daily growth hormone injections. She is extremely needle phobic after some very traumatic experiences over the last 6 years, so we were anxious about having to inject her ourselves every day. However, she has taken it all in her stride & it is now simply a part of her daily routine. We are very proud of her! After just 2 days she made us chuckle by stretching out on the settee & saying…”Look how long I am now, mommy!!!”. Hopefully, we will see some growth over the next few months for her.

Fundraising
On April 8th we presented another cheque officially to BCH, this time for £27,500. This took our official total donated to BCH to £107,500!!! We are extremely grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way & made this possible. Central News spent the day with us & their report was fantastic, unfortunately the link is no longer live. The Tamworth Herald also gave Poppy a fantastic 2-page spread, which can be read online at the link below.
Sainsbury’s Tamworth
Our year as Sainsbury’s Tamworth’s Charity Partner has now come to an end. It has been a pleasure to work with the team there & we are extremely grateful! They raised a total of £5441.71, which takes our total now donated to BCH to £113,000!!! WOW!!! Thank you all at Sainsbury’s Tamworth :o)

Other Fundraising
On 6th June 2010, my brother, Matt, & his partner, Jayne, are taking part in the BRMB Walkathon, a 26-mile walk for ‘Poppy Fields’. Matt has admitted himself to being rather unfit, so this will be quite a challenge. You can join their FaceBook Group at the link below.

On 18th June 2010, our friend, Russ, is cycling 100 miles for ‘Poppy Fields’. Russ did this last year & we are thrilled that he has chosen to support us again this year. Russ is an avid Wolves fan & has offered to wear various other football shirts for a donation!! You can sponsor Russ at the link below.

Good Luck Matt, Jayne & Russ!!! And THANK YOU :o)

Family Life
Well, Baby G is set to arrive by planned c-section on Friday 4th June. We are all very excited, especially Poppy!!!! We are going to take a complete break from fundraising (…until our next planned event which is our ‘School Disco – 80s/90s Night’ at KUBE Night Club on Friday 12th November 2010!!!). Poppy is very well, happy, full of fun & enjoying bouncing around on her trampoline!!! Not a day goes by where we don’t appreciate how extremely lucky we are.

Poppy painted my rather large bump for me!!! xxx
