Merry Christmas 2010 & a happy New Year

Hi All,

We hope this finds you well. Here is an update on our 2010 - an amazing year...

On June 4th our new addition Lily Rose arrived, a beautiful & much-longed for baby sister for Poppy. She is now 6 months old & an absolute joy! Poppy is besotted with her! We feel truly blessed! (But please excuse the long gaps between our updates now & in updating Poppy's website!!!)

Poppy & Lily xx

Poppy has had 3 stable MRI scans this year & now only needs 6 monthly scans!! Wow! She started having daily growth hormone injections in May & has already grown 4". We are really hoping for the stability to continue now. Poppy will celebrate her 8th birthday on January 9th & will have been diagnosed for 7 years in March 2011.

Poppy took her SATs at school this year & amazed us all by gaining 3 level 3s & 2 level 2As, putting her above average for her age! She won a gold, silver & bronze medal for her 3 solos in a dancing competition & an award for the most improved dancer in her dance school for 2010. She has also gained her 200m & 400m swimming badges. We are very proud of her!

Our support group is still going strong with our twice monthly meetings. I have also been able to support those further away through phone calls, emails & Facebook - from Holland to Birmingham, Aberdeen to Italy :o) Poppy herself has also been a great support this year to her very special friend Isabel who has just completed radiotherapy - it's great to see so many positives coming from our situation now. If you know of anyone who would benefit from coming along for a coffee, cake & a chat at one of our meetings - please do email me or text me on 07830 302622.

Poppy & Isabel - 2 super brave girls xx

Our fundraising has surpassed all expectations this year & we have now raised almost £125,000 for research into childhood brain tumours at Birmingham Children's Hospital. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has supported us this year - THANK YOU!

Since our last update the following has been donated...
Steve Darlaston & Team Poppyfields ran the Birmingham Half Marathon - over £3000 raised
Poppy Fields School Disco @ KUBE - over £3000 raised
Palletways Birmingham charity night - over £7000 raised
Swift Movers Dance Night - over £1000 raised
Simon Paterson cycled in the London to Brighton Bike Ride - over £300 raised

This support is phenomenal & we are so grateful. Together we really can make a difference to children fighting brain tumours just like Poppy.

Already for 2011 we are looking forward to...

Our 6th Annual Ball - 'Childhood Memories theme - Saturday 26th March at Drayton Manor - tickets are £25 each & will be on sale after Christmas.

We will be the official charity supported by NAMCO Strykers in Tamworth! (Thanks John!)

Palletways will be supporting us once again too!

As always we ask for your thoughts & prayers for Poppy & her friends - Abi, George, Jasmine, Haydn, Mia, Isabel, Lorna, Jamie, Hope, Alex, Liberty & all of the special kids from our Facebook Oncology group of friends, Poppy Fields Special Mums & Dads & the Optic Glioma Online support group, Thank you.
